In recent times black people have wanted to select alternative democratic candidates. According to the 2022 census, 13.6% of people identified themself as black but in the 2020 census, only 12.4% population identified themself as black. The growing population of black people and their mindset is a key factor in the US presidential election.

From the data above, we can see that when given the choice between a white or black president, black people tend to choose a black president. Barack Obama received significant support from the Black community in the 2008 and 2012 elections. When faced with two white candidates, they typically chose a Democratic candidate, but this trend has been decreasing in recent elections.
In the 2022 mid-term election, 86% of black people voted for Democratic candidates. However, in the 2018 mid-term election, 90% of black people voted for Democratic candidates. This shows a slight decrease in support for Democratic candidates among black voters. Fox News poll estimated that in the 2024 presidential election, 74% of people are voting for the Democratic candidate, and 24% are voting for the Republican candidate.
